Democrat Calls For FBI Investigation Of Trump Admin

Democrats are whining again.

Washington, D.C. — A political controversy is heating up in the capital as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is urging the Federal Bureau of Investigation to open an inquiry into Ed Martin, President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. Raskin’s request centers on Martin’s failure to report more than 150 media appearances on Russian government-funded outlets such as RT (Russia Today) and Sputnik between 2016 and 2024.

Trump-Appointed Nominee Faces Scrutiny for Disclosures

According to Raskin, Martin did not include these appearances in his official confirmation paperwork—a potential violation of the rules that require detailed reporting of public commentary and media engagements. RT and Sputnik have been designated as foreign agents under U.S. law since President Trump’s first term, due to their ties to Russian state operations.

FBI Asked to Investigate Media Disclosures

Raskin is calling on FBI Director Kash Patel to determine whether these omissions were accidental or a deliberate attempt to hide foreign media ties. He stated that the American people have a right to transparency, especially when it involves nominees in positions of power within the federal justice system.

“The Congress of the United States and the American people deserve a full picture of Mr. Martin’s relationships, including his political loyalties and foreign media exposure,” Raskin wrote.

DOJ and Western Allies Have Sanctioned Russian Networks

Citing actions by the Department of Justice, Raskin emphasized that both RT and Sputnik have been sanctioned for spreading Russian disinformation. The U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom have also taken coordinated actions against the networks in response to foreign influence operations targeting elections and public discourse.

In 2024, DOJ officials brought charges against RT employees who allegedly worked with American social media influencers to amplify pro-Russian narratives.

Ed Martin’s Controversial Tenure as Interim U.S. Attorney

Currently serving as interim U.S. Attorney for D.C., Martin has sparked debate for his strong prosecutorial stance. One notable incident involved a letter addressed to Elon Musk, warning that his office may investigate individuals not just for breaking the law, but also for “unethical behavior.”

Martin has also opened probes into two Democrat lawmakers, a move that has intensified calls for scrutiny from the left.

Russian Talking Points? Democrat Lawmaker Raises Concerns

Raskin’s letter alleges that Martin’s appearances promoted narratives that aligned with Kremlin talking points. In one segment shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Martin reportedly referred to Vladimir Putin as a potential “hero” and questioned the reliability of NATO allies.

Reports suggest that Russian state media used Martin’s commentary to shape foreign audiences’ views of the U.S. in ways that aligned with Moscow’s agenda.

Pressure Mounts for a Formal Confirmation Hearing

Although nominees for U.S. Attorney positions typically bypass formal Senate hearings, that tradition is being challenged. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) has joined Raskin in calling for a hearing. In a separate letter to Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Raskin urged the panel to delay confirmation proceedings until Martin testifies under oath.

“We must take our constitutional duty seriously,” Durbin added. “The Committee must hear from Ed Martin directly.”

Martin has also drawn attention for his past support of Stop the Steal rallies and for removing prosecutors who had worked on January 6-related cases, further fueling political tensions.

FBI Confirms Letter Receipt, Declines Comment

The FBI has acknowledged receiving Raskin’s letter but did not offer further details. Martin’s office has not responded to media inquiries.

Why This Matters for Conservative Americans

While liberal lawmakers are sounding alarms over Ed Martin’s past media engagements, many conservatives see this as another politically motivated attack on a Trump-aligned appointee who is taking on corruption head-on. This controversy raises serious questions about how the deep state and mainstream media treat outsiders willing to shake up the system.

As the investigation unfolds, everyday Americans—especially voters who value accountability and national security—will be watching closely.
