The Trump Administration is not playing anymore games.
Tom Homan, who is set to become the “border czar” in the upcoming Trump administration, recently demanded that the Aurora, Colorado, police chief hand over suspected members of the dangerous Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation. Homan’s call for action follows the arrest of 14 TdA gang members involved in a violent home invasion at an apartment complex, a location that had already gained notoriety earlier this year after a viral video exposed the gang’s activities.
Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain confirmed that the incident at The Edge at Lowry Apartments was undeniably gang-related. However, Homan pointed out that while local law enforcement is quick to identify gang activity, the crucial next step of handing over these criminal suspects to ICE is often ignored. “The only thing missing from that press conference was an ICE agent standing beside him,” Homan remarked on “America Reports.” He emphasized that local police must work with federal immigration authorities to remove these criminals not only from communities but from the country entirely. “If law enforcement doesn’t help, we’ll be forced to step in when I take office in January,” Homan added.
Homan is eager to meet with mayors from Democrat-led cities to discuss how they can work together to address the escalating immigration crisis. “This isn’t about politics; it’s about public safety and national security,” Homan said. “We’re willing to do the heavy lifting on immigration enforcement—local officials just need to do their part in protecting their communities.”
The Department of the Treasury recently sanctioned the TdA, highlighting their involvement in human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other serious crimes across borders. This move by the Biden administration, which Homan criticized, underscores the increasing threat posed by transnational criminal organizations.
As President Trump has made clear, his administration will prioritize mass deportations, focusing initially on the violent criminals who have flooded into the country during the past several years. “We’re going to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history,” Trump declared, noting that the cooperation of local law enforcement will be essential to the success of this initiative.
