Democrats Cry Over Trump’s ICE Victory

President Donald Trump has delivered another major win for law and order — and Democrats in Washington, D.C., are fuming.

Trump Steps In Where Democrats Failed

DC Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith has issued a new order allowing officers to alert Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) about suspected illegal immigrants — even if they’re not in custody. That includes drivers stopped for routine traffic violations.

The directive, first revealed by NBC Washington, also lets DC police help transport migrants already detained by federal authorities.

DC’s Sanctuary Shield Cracking

While the nation’s capital is not officially listed as a “sanctuary city” by the Trump administration, local Democrat-backed laws have long blocked cooperation with ICE. Smith’s order still prevents officers from investigating a suspect’s immigration status or making arrests based solely on federal warrants. It also bans holding illegal migrants past their release date.

But that changed this week when President Trump signed an executive order federalizing the DC police force for 30 days. Trump tapped Attorney General Pam Bondi to oversee MPD operations — bypassing Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser.

A President Who Acts

Under the 1973 Home Rule Act, the president has emergency powers over the district. Past presidents have used it — most notably Bill Clinton during D.C.’s financial collapse in the 1990s. But Trump is using it to restore public safety after a surge in violent crime.

One recent flashpoint: the attempted carjacking of Edward Coristine, a former Department of Government Efficiency employee known locally as “Big Balls” for standing up to criminals.

Immediate Results on the Streets

Within days of the federal takeover, hundreds of federal officers were patrolling D.C. neighborhoods. The crackdown produced fast results: in just one overnight sweep, 45 suspects were arrested — 29 for immigration offenses, 16 for violent crimes, and three for illegal gun possession.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed several suspects face charges for assaulting a federal officer, possessing child sex abuse material, and drug trafficking.

“These results are happening night after night because of the efforts of this federal task force,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox & Friends. “While Democrats rant, rave, and coddle criminals, President Trump is putting them behind bars.”

Even the Police Chief Admits It Works

Chief Smith told Fox 5 that the extra manpower — roughly 500 additional personnel — is making a “positive” difference. “We’re down in numbers, so this enhanced presence will clearly impact us in a positive way.”

Trump’s Next Move

President Trump has hinted he may ask Congress to extend federal control of the MPD beyond 30 days — and fund a beautification project to restore the nation’s capital.

For law-abiding Americans, it’s a refreshing change. For Democrats, it’s a bitter pill: Trump promised to crack down on crime and illegal immigration — and he’s delivering.
