Texas Democrat’s Impeachment Stunt Sparks Backlash From Voters and Lawmakers

In yet another display of partisan overreach, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) introduced new articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump this week—his latest attempt to undermine the will of the American people. This time, Green claimed America risks a full-blown “constitutional crisis” if Trump remains in office, warning in an interview that if Congress doesn’t act now, Americans might soon see “tanks rolling down the street.”

The inflammatory rhetoric from Green has stunned even some in his own party. But for conservative voters, it’s another clear example of how far-left Democrats are willing to go to silence a president who puts America First.

Green Disrupts State of the Union, Gets Censured

Green’s latest media blitz follows a dramatic outburst at President Trump’s State of the Union address on March 4. In the middle of the speech, Green stood up and shouted at the President, “You have no mandate,” before being escorted out of the chamber by order of House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Shortly after, the House—with bipartisan support—voted to censure Green for his outburst, calling it a “disruption of proper decorum.” Green, however, remains defiant. “I would do it again,” he told reporters, as he filed impeachment articles calling President Trump “unfit for office.”

What Are the Charges? A Familiar List of Left-Wing Talking Points

Green’s complaints center around President Trump’s strong stance on the judiciary and law enforcement. The congressman accused Trump of “disrespecting judges,” “undermining the rule of law,” and favoring tough action on violent criminals—policies most Americans support.

One point of criticism? Trump’s recent suggestion that repeat violent offenders—those who push people onto subway tracks or commit multiple assaults—could be sent to overseas prisons. “I’m all for it,” Trump said. “Why should American taxpayers foot the bill to house criminals who harm innocent people?”

A Radical Agenda Hidden Behind a Moral Facade

To justify his actions, Green referenced his upbringing in the segregated South and compared the Trump administration’s enforcement of immigration and judicial orders to authoritarianism. He warned that the country could “devolve” if people like Trump are not removed from office.

Critics argue Green is weaponizing painful personal history to push a radical agenda, using scare tactics to frame law and order as a threat to democracy.

Impeachment as a Political Weapon—Again

This isn’t Green’s first attempt to impeach President Trump. During Trump’s first term, Green introduced multiple failed articles of impeachment. None gained traction. But that hasn’t stopped him from trying again, just months into Trump’s second term.

Even President Trump responded directly at a recent rally: “Some guy I’ve never even heard of says he’s going to impeach me. What the hell did I do? Here we go again.”

Speaker Mike Johnson Blasts “Embarrassing Political Stunt”

House Speaker Mike Johnson didn’t mince words. “This is another shameful abuse of the Constitution,” he said. “While Democrats are busy playing games, House Republicans are focused on lowering taxes, protecting Medicare and Social Security, restoring energy independence, and securing the border.”

The contrast couldn’t be more clear.

Green’s Protest Wasn’t Planned—But He’d “Do It Again”

Green admitted he hadn’t intended to disrupt the State of the Union but acted on impulse when President Trump mentioned having a mandate to govern. “I just couldn’t stay silent,” Green said, claiming Trump’s push to reform Medicaid was “dangerous.”

Green was eventually escorted out of the House chamber, but not before shouting about supposed threats to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—programs that President Trump has repeatedly promised to protect.

Bottom Line: Americans Are Tired of the Distractions

As Green pledges to file even more impeachment articles, everyday Americans are tuning out the noise and focusing on real issues: lower taxes, energy prices, law and order, border security, and protecting seniors’ benefits.

Green may want to make headlines. But voters—especially older Americans—are demanding results, not rhetoric.
