Top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci is now claiming that a new drug, remdesivir, has shown promising clinical trial results and that it was “quite good news.”
According to the Washington Examiner, “The data shows that remdesivir has a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery,” Fauci said.
Gilead Sciences, the company that makes HIV PrEP drugs, claimed that patients who took the medicine recovered in about 11 days while unmedicated patients took around 15 days to recover.
“Although a 31% improvement doesn’t seem like a knockout 100%, it is a very important proof of concept. Because what it has proven is that a drug can block this virus,” Fauci stated.
“We think it’s really opening the door to the fact that we now have the capability of treating [the virus],” Fauci added.
