Fox made a huge mistake.
The most recent Rasmussen Reports poll suggests that Tucker Carlson, who was previously employed by Fox News, has a greater popularity than the network that terminated his contract.
According to Newsmax, the survey conducted among probable U.S. voters revealed that 59% of them held a favorable opinion of Tucker Carlson, whereas only 52% had a favorable view of Fox News. Additionally, a larger percentage of respondents believed that Carlson’s exit would negatively impact Fox News rather than improve it, with 32% expressing that opinion as opposed to 19% who held the opposite view.
Regarding the opinion of Republicans, 47% of those surveyed believed that terminating Carlson’s contract would have a detrimental effect on Fox News, whereas only 13% thought otherwise.
On Monday, Fox News announced that it had reached an agreement to end its relationship with Tucker Carlson, which came less than a week after the network had settled a lawsuit related to its coverage of the 2020 election.
According to a statement released by the network, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” aired its final episode on Friday.
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox News said after firing him.
As expected, Tucker Carlson’s popularity is highest among Republican voters and self-identified conservatives. The survey found that 71% of Republicans, 48% of Democrats, and 55% of voters who do not align with either major party view Carlson favorably to some degree.
The Rasmussen Reports survey also showed that 55% of conservatives held a very favorable opinion of Tucker Carlson. However, only 18% of liberal and moderate voters expressed a similarly positive view of him. Additionally, 48% of liberals held a very unfavorable view of Carlson, according to the same survey.
The Rasmussen Reports survey was conducted between April 25-27 and involved 945 likely U.S. voters. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 3 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95%. Field work for all surveys conducted by Rasmussen Reports is carried out by Pulse Opinion Research.
