Hillary Clinton just got a brutal reminder of her own scandals — from the very people she tried to lecture.
After attacking President Donald Trump over his new White House ballroom project, conservatives unleashed a wave of reminders about the Clintons’ notorious 2001 “furniture scandal” — when they were accused of walking out of the White House with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of donated items.
Conservatives Hit Back Hard
“At least he didn’t steal the silverware,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) fired off on X — a jab that immediately went viral.
Others quickly joined in, reminding Americans how the Clintons took $28,000 in furnishings when leaving office and later paid $86,000 for additional “gifts” they had accepted. At the time, Hillary insisted everything was above board — until the backlash forced the couple to quietly settle up.
The incident became one of the most embarrassing footnotes of the Clinton years — and it’s now back in the headlines.
Trump’s Ballroom Sparks Another Liberal Meltdown
President Trump’s White House ballroom project is a privately funded, zero-taxpayer-cost upgrade to the East Wing — part of his effort to modernize and beautify the People’s House.
The 90,000-square-foot ballroom will hold up to 650 guests for official ceremonies and state events.
Trump proudly announced on Truth Social that work had officially begun on what he called a “large, elegant, and truly magnificent White House Ballroom,” emphasizing that the new addition would be completely separate from the main residence and would make the East Wing “more stunning than ever before.”
But instead of applauding the privately funded upgrade, Hillary Clinton took to social media to criticize Trump, writing:
“It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”
Her post — paired with a Washington Post story showing construction crews — immediately backfired.
‘Remember When You Stole the Furniture, Hillary?’
Conservatives wasted no time reminding Clinton of her own scandals:
- Eric Trump: “The ballroom will be spectacular… unlike your work in Haiti.”
- Benny Johnson: “Hi Hillary, wasn’t it you who walked off with $28,000 in White House furniture?”
- Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO): “There’s literally a Clinton scandal for every tweet she sends.”
- Mark Hemingway: “Between selling Lincoln Bedroom stays and her husband’s intern lessons, no one defiled the White House more than the Clintons.”
- Fox Business’ Dagen McDowell: “What her husband did inside ‘our house’ is the real abomination.”
The hits kept coming — and the hypocrisy was hard to ignore.
Even the Media Can’t Ignore the History
Columnist Salena Zito pointed out that presidents from both parties have renovated the White House, including the Clintons themselves — who boasted about their redecorating in House Beautiful magazine back in 1993.
Meanwhile, others resurrected another old scandal — the Lincoln Bedroom donor controversy, where big donors allegedly “bought” overnight stays during Bill Clinton’s presidency.
It seems wherever Hillary turns, the ghosts of the Clinton years keep following her.
Trump’s White House, Trump’s Vision
White House spokesman Davis Ingle defended the project in a statement to Fox News Digital:
“President Trump is working 24/7 to Make America Great Again — including his historic beautification of the White House, at no taxpayer expense. These upgrades will benefit generations of Americans and future presidents.”
Unlike the Clintons, Trump’s improvements are privately funded, transparent, and patriotic — honoring America’s history without costing citizens a dime.
Bottom Line
Hillary Clinton tried to take a shot at President Trump — and ended up reopening one of her own scandals instead.
Once again, conservatives reminded her that while Trump is building something beautiful, the Clintons will always be remembered for what they took.
