Judge Blocks Trump From Protecting Elections

This is wild!

A liberal federal judge has struck down President Donald Trump’s commonsense plan to safeguard America’s elections, ruling that the administration cannot require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote.

The ruling sparked outrage among millions of Americans who believe only U.S. citizens should have the right to cast a ballot—not illegal immigrants, non-citizens, or foreign nationals.

⚖️ Clinton-Appointed Judge Sides With Democrats

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, appointed by former President Bill Clinton, ruled from Washington, D.C., that President Trump’s executive order was “unconstitutional.” She claimed the president “lacks the authority” to enforce basic election-security measures.

She wrote that since the Constitution gives the power to regulate elections to the states and to Congress, the president does not have the authority to make those kinds of changes on his own.

Critics argue this decision hands power back to liberal activists who have long fought voter-ID laws and efforts to verify citizenship before voting.

🏛️ White House Fires Back: “Trump Acted Lawfully”

The Trump White House quickly pushed back, calling the ruling another example of judicial overreach designed to weaken election security.

Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson said President Trump was acting fully within his legal authority to make sure that only U.S. citizens are voting in American elections. She added that the policy is simple common sense — the kind of measure only Democrats would try to challenge in court — and expressed confidence that a higher court will ultimately uphold it.

🚨 Left-Wing Groups Celebrate

The lawsuit was filed by the Democratic National Committee, LULAC, and the League of Women Voters—organizations that routinely oppose voter-ID and election-integrity laws.

Thanks to the ruling, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission is now permanently barred from adding citizenship verification to federal voter forms. In other words, Democrats just won another battle to make elections easier to exploit.

🇺🇸 Trump’s Order: Protect the Vote

President Trump’s executive order, signed in March, required anyone registering to vote to show government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship. It also directed the Attorney General to share information with states on possible election fraud and required states to meet federal election-integrity standards to receive federal funds.

“There are other steps we will be taking in the coming weeks,” Trump said at the time. “We think we’ll be able to end up getting fair elections.”

But left-wing judges and Democratic attorneys general rushed to stop it—once again proving Trump right about the deep-state resistance to honest elections.

⚠️ A Pattern of Judicial Activism

Judge Kollar-Kotelly had already issued an injunction earlier this year, and another federal court blocked the same order in June after yet another Democrat-led challenge.

For many Americans, this latest ruling represents another attack on election integrity—and a reminder that Trump’s fight to secure the vote is far from over.
