Kamala was furious!
At the recent funeral of former President Jimmy Carter at the Washington National Cathedral, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, made an entrance that caught the attention of many in attendance. While they were escorted to the front row by a uniformed officer, their arrival seemed to be met with a distinct lack of cordiality from some of the prominent political figures present, including former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama.
Harris and Emhoff were seated in the first row, stage left, with Harris pausing briefly as her husband took the seat closest to the Trumps. Unlike when former President George W. Bush was greeted warmly by figures like Al Gore and the Quayles, Harris and Emhoff’s arrival seemed far more subdued. While other former presidents, such as Trump and Obama, shared brief moments of conversation, the current vice president and second gentleman appeared largely isolated, with minimal interaction from their political counterparts.
At one point, as Harris took her seat, she appeared to notice former President Obama conversing with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis—who famously defeated her and President Biden in the 2024 election. Harris visibly grimaced before quickly turning forward, momentarily putting on a strained expression.
Meanwhile, Emhoff looked around at the ornate interior of the cathedral, while Harris leafed through her funeral program. The two exchanged a quiet conversation before Harris briefly spoke to First Lady Jill Biden, as the outgoing first family arrived.
Several notable figures, including former second ladies Marilyn Quayle and Karen Pence, were also present. Quayle sat behind the Clintons, while Karen Pence was seated with her husband, former Vice President Mike Pence. Notably, other prominent figures such as Lynne Cheney and Michelle Obama were absent from the service.
This display at Carter’s funeral underscored the often-tense and fractured nature of today’s political climate, highlighting the uncomfortable dynamics even among long-time public figures.
