Kamala simply cannot keep up with Trump.
On Thursday, former President Donald Trump announced a significant policy initiative aimed at helping American workers if he secures a return to the White House. Speaking to a crowd in Tucson, Arizona—a crucial state for the 2024 election—Trump pledged to eliminate all federal taxes on overtime pay.
At the rally, Trump detailed his plan, stating, “We will end all taxes on overtime as part of our new tax cuts.” He argued that removing these taxes would provide a stronger incentive for Americans to work extra hours and help businesses attract and keep employees. “You’ll see a new wave of workers when overtime is tax-free,” Trump claimed, underscoring his belief that hardworking Americans, including police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers, and machine operators, deserve this kind of financial relief.
Trump emphasized that those who put in overtime hours are among the most diligent workers in the nation, and that Washington has not adequately supported them. “For too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for these hard-working citizens,” he said. His plan envisions allowing these workers to keep more of their earnings by making their overtime hours exempt from federal taxes.
This proposal is part of Trump’s broader economic strategy. He has also suggested eliminating taxes on tipped wages and removing the tax on Social Security benefits for seniors. According to Trump, these measures, along with his plan to end overtime taxes, will counter the economic challenges faced under the current administration. “We will end the era of inflation, chaos, and hardship brought on by Kamala [Harris] and Crooked Joe [Biden], and instead bring safety, prosperity, and peace to Americans of all backgrounds,” he asserted.
In addition to his economic proposals, Trump addressed housing policy. He announced plans to ban illegal migrants from securing home mortgages and renting in federally subsidized housing. “When I am back in the White House, we will enforce strict citizenship verification for companies receiving federal housing subsidies,” Trump said. He also promised to cut regulations that increase housing costs, aiming to reduce the cost of new home construction by 30% to 50%. “With my background in building, I understand the issues and I am committed to making housing more affordable,” he concluded.
These proposals represent Trump’s commitment to economic reform and stricter immigration policies, forming a key part of his campaign platform as he seeks to reclaim the presidency.
