Senator Lindsey Graham says President Trump could take the fight to the enemies — warning that ground operations in Venezuela and Colombia are now on the table.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has revealed that President Donald Trump may soon launch expanded military operations against drug cartels operating out of Venezuela and Colombia — a move he called “a real possibility” in a high-stakes effort to defend America’s borders and families from deadly narcotics.
Speaking Sunday on CBS’s Face the Nation, Graham said the President made it clear that Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro “has to go”, calling both Venezuela and Colombia long-time safe havens for narco-terrorists.
“President Trump told me yesterday that he plans to brief members of Congress when he gets back from Asia about future potential military operations,” Graham said.
Trump’s Mission: Protect America from Narco-Terror
Graham noted that the President’s next move could extend the U.S. mission from the sea to the land, after Trump authorized naval strikes against suspected drug boats in the Caribbean and Pacific earlier this month.
“I support that idea,” Graham said firmly. “President Trump has all the authority he needs under Article II of the Constitution to defend this country.”
The Pentagon has already deployed the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier to the region, officially for counternarcotics missions. But insiders say the expanded presence could also pave the way for a regime change in Caracas, where Maduro’s socialist regime remains a threat to regional stability.
Critics Cry Foul — Trump Allies Say He’s Right
When pressed by host Margaret Brennan about whether the strikes could violate international law, Graham didn’t hold back.
“We’re not killing anyone,” he said. “We’re defending our country from those who seek to harm us with poison.”
According to Axios, U.S. forces have eliminated more than 40 suspected traffickers in recent strikes — operations widely supported by Americans fed up with the flood of drugs devastating their communities.
Yet some lawmakers, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.), are demanding more transparency. Paul even claimed the actions amount to “extrajudicial killings.”
Graham fired back, calling Paul’s view “fundamentally wrong.”
“The rules have changed,” Graham said. “We’ll resort to military action as we have before to defend the country — and if I were Maduro, I’d get out while there’s still time.”
A Strong America Defends Its Borders
President Trump’s decisive actions send a clear message: America will not sit back while drugs, crime, and foreign cartels destroy our communities.
From fentanyl flooding through the southern border to foreign drug lords operating under hostile regimes, Trump’s “America First” strategy is putting the safety of the American people — not global politics — at the top of the agenda.
