This is a fantastic idea!
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (R) recently announced that he will proudly raise the Make America Great Again (MAGA) flag at the governor’s mansion for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, encouraging all Louisianans to do the same.
In a statement on Friday, Governor Landry emphasized the significance of Trump’s upcoming administration and the positive changes it promises for the nation. “The days of open borders are over. We are done with the era where American families struggle with skyrocketing gas and grocery prices while our taxpayer dollars are sent overseas,” Landry declared. “Under President Trump, we are entering a new chapter—a renaissance where the American people come first, and America leads the world once again.”
Landry’s decision to raise the MAGA flag aligns with similar actions taken by Republican governors across the country. Despite the tragic events of the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Year’s Day, which prompted a 30-day mourning period, several GOP-led states, including Florida, North Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska, have committed to flying flags at full staff to honor the inauguration of President Trump on January 20, 2025.
Although Louisiana’s flags were initially scheduled to remain at half-staff due to the New Orleans tragedy, Landry’s call to raise the MAGA flag at full staff reflects his firm belief in the importance of celebrating the return of strong, conservative leadership in Washington. At the same time, several other Republican leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have also declared that flags at the U.S. Capitol will be flown at full staff during Trump’s inauguration, before being lowered the next day to continue honoring the late former President Jimmy Carter.
Landry’s bold move reflects the optimism and renewed spirit many conservatives feel as they look ahead to a new era of American leadership under President Trump. It’s a celebration of American greatness and the unwavering commitment to putting the interests of the American people first.
