MAGA world has a complicated relationship with Elon Musk.
Laura Loomer, a staunch ally of President Trump and a well-known conservative activist, has called on the former president to intervene as she faces what she describes as a coordinated effort to silence and financially punish her. Loomer, who has long been a vocal supporter of Trump and a defender of conservative principles, accuses tech billionaire Elon Musk of using his platform, X (formerly Twitter), to target her in retaliation for her hardline views on immigration and other conservative causes.
In a recent post on X, Loomer shared her frustrations, claiming that after helping President Trump win the election, she is now being subjected to censorship and financial retaliation by Musk, who, she asserts, is using his influence to silence her voice. “It’s outrageous,” Loomer said, emphasizing how she worked tirelessly to support Trump’s election efforts only to now face efforts to shut down her independent journalism.
Loomer’s grievances with Musk escalated after Musk expressed support for the controversial H-1B visa program, a move that sparked backlash from conservative figures who oppose what they see as open-border policies. Loomer, along with other anti-immigration activists, has since accused Musk of stripping her of important platform features such as verification and monetization — essential tools she uses to fund her independent work.
The situation has become even more tense as Loomer’s access to these features remains restricted, including subscriptions, which she relies on as a primary source of income. “This is not Elon’s money. It’s the money of my supporters who choose to support my work,” Loomer argued, underscoring the personal and financial impact of the situation. “It’s greedy, morally wrong, and un-American,” she added.
In her post, Loomer expressed her disbelief that someone so close to Trump, like Musk, would engage in what she views as retaliation against a loyal supporter, calling it a “slap in the face.” She further warned that if such actions can be taken against her, they could be used to silence others, urging her followers to recognize the dangerous precedent being set.
Loomer’s frustrations reflect a growing concern among conservatives about the power of tech giants and their influence over free speech, especially when it comes to voices aligned with Trump and the MAGA movement. “Money is speech,” Loomer said, pointing out that the demonetization of her account is an assault on free expression and a clear sign that conservative voices continue to face systemic suppression in America.
