McCarthy isn’t backing off.
All hell broke lose after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy handed over thousands of hours of classified footage of the January 6th Capitol riot to Fox’s Tucker Carlson.
Democrats attacked Speaker McCarthy and said that he compromised national security by releasing the footage and now it appears that McCarthy doubled down on his decision and doesn’t regret it even the slightest.
According to Newsmax, McCarthy actually went on the offensive and said, “I was asked in the press about these tapes, and I said they do belong to the American public. I think sunshine lets everybody make their own judgment.”
If you didn’t already know, McCarthy handed over an astounding 41,000 hours of footage from the Capitol during the time of the riot.
A large number of conservatives strongly believe that there is more that needs to be seen and a number of very important issues are being covered up because the Democrats want to destroy Trump.
After McCarthy released the footage of the riot, Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries actually accused the House Speaker of being a Russian asset and said, “I write with respect to public reports that extreme MAGA Republicans in the House have provided tens of thousands of hours of sensitive Capitol security footage to a FOX News personality who regularly peddles in conspiracy theories and Pro-Putin rhetoric. The apparent transfer of video footage represents an egregious security breach that endangers the hardworking women and men of the United States Capitol Police, who valiantly defended our democracy with their lives at risk on that fateful day.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also attacked McCarthy and said, “Giving someone as disingenuous as Tucker Carlson exclusive access to this type of sensitive information is a grave mistake by Speaker McCarthy that will only embolden supporters of the Big Lie and weaken faith in our democracy.”
