MTG’s War With Trump Escalates

A growing political battle between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and President Donald Trump erupted again this week, signaling a dramatic shift inside the America First movement and raising questions about the future of two of the GOP’s most recognizable figures.

Greene, once one of Trump’s most loyal defenders, told CNN on Tuesday that she now feels “very sorry” for the president after he referred to her as “very dumb” and questioned her allegiance to the America First agenda.

“I feel very sorry for President Trump,” Greene said. “It must be a difficult place for someone who constantly resorts to hateful attacks, name-calling, and spreading falsehoods just to win an argument or score political points.”

Her comments came after Trump reacted to Greene’s criticism that he has been spending too much time focused on foreign policy rather than the economic and national-security needs of everyday Americans.

In an interview, Trump dismissed her concerns and mocked her intelligence.

“I’ve watched stupid people like Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene,” Trump reportedly said, later adding that when he travels abroad, “I only have one priority in mind: the United States.”

Greene’s remarks intensified after Trump posted on social media Monday, accusing her of abandoning the MAGA label while attempting to rebrand herself as “America First.”

“Marjorie is not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA,” Trump wrote. “Nobody changes their views this fast. Her new views are those of a very dumb person.”

Greene Says Trump Is Fueling America’s “Toxic Politics”

Greene fired back Tuesday, arguing that Trump’s rhetoric reflects a deeper crisis in American politics — one that voters, especially older Americans, are increasingly frustrated with.

“This is exactly what’s wrong in America today,” Greene said. “Our country is being ripped apart by toxic political behavior. And frankly, that’s poor leadership from a president. Americans are tired of it.”

She added that she regrets her own past role in heating up political tensions, but insisted that Trump is a major driver of the problem.

“Oh, absolutely. He’s a leader in it,” she said, while also accusing the Biden administration of fueling the divide by “weaponizing” the Justice Department against Trump and his family.

A Stunning GOP Rift With 2024 Implications

The clash is one of the most dramatic public breakups yet between Trump and an early MAGA ally. It comes at a time when conservative voters are already dealing with rising inflation, border chaos, global instability, and growing frustration with Washington’s political infighting.

For many older Republican voters — the most engaged and most reliable voting bloc — this feud raises a bigger question: Is the conservative movement entering a new phase where America First leaders begin separating from each other?

For now, Greene and Trump appear locked in a political standoff that could shape the direction of the GOP heading into 2024 and beyond.
