Has McConnell turned on his party?
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has surprised many conservatives and has ordered Texas Republicans Senator John Cornyn to work with Democrats to create a “bipartisan solution” to end gun violence.
According to Axios, McConnell claimed that he “encouraged” Cornyn to meet with Democrat Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Chris Murphy along with “others who are interested in trying to get an outcome that’s directly related to the problem.”
What’s interesting is that Senate Democrats have already pre-selected Senator John Cornyn as the one Republican they intend to contact regarding creating some form of gun control because of how the most recent school shooting just happened in his state of Texas.
This shooting in Texas has resulted both sides finally willing to come together to begin holding talks about what they will do to prevent mass shooting from happening any further. Many Conservatives believe that this will result in gun rights being stripped from them.
