MTG has been butting heads with President Trump a lot recently.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is breaking ranks with President Donald Trump, blasting what she calls an “America Last” decision to bail out Argentina with tens of millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars.
During a fiery appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show Thursday, Greene — a longtime Trump ally — didn’t hold back. She called the bailout “one of the grossest things” she’s ever seen in Washington.
“I honestly don’t know who’s convincing our great president that this makes sense,” Greene told Carlson. “It feels like a slap in the face to America’s cattle ranchers — they’re angry, and they have every reason to be.”
A Betrayal of ‘America First’?
Greene accused political insiders of turning Trump’s America First vision into a revolving door for foreign governments begging for money. She said too many Washington Republicans are now catering to global interests instead of putting American workers and ranchers first.
The U.S. recently handed Argentina another $20 million, on top of a previous $20 million in aid — all while many Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Greene says that’s unacceptable.
“Americans are being crushed by record prices, soaring insurance rates, and shrinking savings,” Greene warned on X. “They’re maxing out credit cards to survive — and Washington is sending their money to Argentina.”
Ranchers Sound the Alarm
The Trump administration’s plan also includes importing more Argentine beef in an effort to lower grocery prices. That means quadrupling the low-tariff import quota to 80,000 metric tons a year — a move U.S. ranchers say could devastate the cattle industry.
Farmers in Texas, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska are furious. Nebraska alone exported over $1.86 billion in beef in 2022 — nearly 16% of all U.S. exports, according to the Nebraska Farm Bureau. Ranchers warn that increasing foreign beef imports could drive prices down and push small producers out of business.
Greene Pushes Back Against the Establishment
Greene, one of Trump’s most vocal defenders, said her criticism comes from loyalty to the America First movement — not from opposition.
“I support President Trump 100%, but this bailout is not what he ran on,” Greene said. “We cannot save every foreign country while Americans are suffering here at home.”
She called on Washington to focus on rebuilding American agriculture, protecting U.S. jobs, and defending the middle class — not foreign economies.
The Bottom Line
The growing tension between Trump loyalists and populist conservatives like Greene shows the internal struggle over what America First truly means.
With the economy on edge, food prices still high, and global aid spending out of control, many conservatives agree with Greene: it’s time to take care of America first — again.
