Newsom’s Cheap Shot At Trump Sparks Anger

Why is Newsom still doing Biden’s bidding?

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, launched a scathing critique of former President Trump, asserting that Trump has become “more unhinged” than ever. Newsom expressed his belief that while Trump may be formidable in a primary election, he deems him the most flawed candidate in his lifetime for a general election, dubbing him “damaged goods.”

In an interview with MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, Newsom pointed out Trump’s diminishing entertainment value and emphasized the perceived escalation of Trump’s extremity and danger across various issues. Newsom also took the opportunity to criticize congressional Republicans for what he views as their submission to Trump’s agenda, particularly concerning the southern border.

Expressing his dismay, Newsom referred to the Republican Party’s actions as a “disgrace” and Trump’s influence as a glaring issue. He criticized Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for allegedly caving in to Trump’s opposition to any border security deal, deeming it “shameful.” McConnell’s proposal to separate funding for Ukraine from border security reforms also drew Newsom’s censure.

Further, Newsom didn’t spare Speaker of the House Mike Johnson from his criticism, asserting that the current leadership is not interested in reaching a deal. Johnson, in response to reports about the proposed terms of the deal, indicated that such legislation would have been “dead on arrival” in the House.

As a potential rematch between Trump and President Biden looms in the November elections, Newsom’s sharp assessment of Trump’s candidacy and his rebuke of Republican actions underscore the intense political climate and the continuing divisions within the United States political landscape.
