Obama Shielded From Trump’s New Rule

Why does Obama get to get off the hook?

President Donald J. Trump is taking aim at foreign interference in the U.S. movie industry, proposing a bold 100% tariff on all films produced overseas. Trump says it’s time to stand up for American jobs, American values, and American culture—before it’s too late.

“America’s movie industry is collapsing at an alarming rate,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Foreign nations are throwing out massive incentives to lure our studios and filmmakers out of the country.”

Hollywood Outsourcing? Not on Trump’s Watch

Trump’s plan would place a 100% import tax on any movie produced in a foreign country and brought into the U.S. market. He says this isn’t just about jobs—it’s about national security and cultural sovereignty.

“What we’re seeing is a coordinated campaign by foreign countries, and that makes it a national security issue,” Trump stated. “On top of everything else, it’s also about spreading propaganda and controlling the narrative.”

Trump has ordered the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to begin the process of exploring these tariffs immediately.

America First in the Film Industry

This policy follows Trump’s broader America First agenda—just like his tariffs on Chinese imports, which remain in effect today. While some economists are predicting higher consumer prices, many American workers see this as a way to rebuild communities hollowed out by global outsourcing.

📉 Hollywood has moved countless productions overseas to cash in on cheap labor and tax breaks—leaving U.S. film workers behind.

Now, Trump is fighting to bring that business back home.

Obama’s Production Company Likely Exempt

Interestingly, Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground Media, won’t be impacted by this policy. That’s because most of their projects, including Leave the World Behind (filmed in New York) and Rustin (Pittsburgh), are already shot on U.S. soil.

Some critics say this shows how liberal elites insulate themselves from the very globalist policies they support.

Critics Cry Foul—But Trump Supporters Cheer

Globalist economists like Justin Wolfers and hedge fund managers like Spencer Hakimian are crying foul, calling the move “petty” and “dangerous.” But Trump supporters see this as a long-overdue stand against Hollywood hypocrisy.

💬 “They’ve mocked Trump for years,” said one Truth Social commenter. “Now he’s fighting to bring jobs and culture back to America—and they can’t stand it.”

Will the Film Tariff Go Into Effect?

The White House has confirmed “no final decisions have been made” on the film tariff, but discussions are moving quickly. Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods are still in place, though some retaliatory measures are currently paused to allow trade negotiations.

🇺🇸 Trump Stands for American Workers—Again

From steel to autos to now entertainment, President Trump continues to fight for American workers against foreign exploitation. His proposed film tariff is another bold move to protect our industries, our culture, and our sovereignty.
