Obama Team Attacks Trump

Obama and his team are still attacking Trump.

In a recent interview, former U.N. Ambassador under Obama, Susan Rice, warned that former President Donald Trump’s approach to the Ukraine conflict could have serious global consequences, including emboldening China to invade Taiwan. Trump has been outspoken in his criticism of the ongoing war in Ukraine, calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator” and suggesting that he may have played a role in starting the conflict. He has even expressed interest in reopening relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to help bring the war to a close.

Rice, appearing on MSNBC with anchor Jen Psaki, expressed concern that Trump’s comments and policies could be interpreted as a signal to authoritarian regimes around the world that the United States is backing away from its global leadership role. According to Rice, Trump’s stance — which includes suggesting that Ukraine give up territory to Russia and that NATO’s security guarantees are not a priority — would send a dangerous message to China’s President Xi Jinping.

Rice’s argument is that if Ukraine is forced to make territorial concessions to Russia and left without firm security assurances, it could embolden China to take aggressive actions towards Taiwan. She noted that Xi Jinping and Putin share a mutual interest in undermining U.S. global influence and could seize on the perceived weakness of American leadership under Trump to further their own ambitions. In her view, such a policy would be a significant shift away from traditional U.S. commitments to defending democracy and opposing authoritarian regimes.

What’s most concerning to Rice is the apparent lack of pushback from many Republicans in Congress. Despite the risks involved, she feels that too many are silent as Trump’s foreign policy ideas gain traction. For conservatives who value national security and strong global alliances, aligning with Putin’s Russia and offering concessions to Xi Jinping is a dangerous path that threatens American interests and global stability. The stakes are high, and Republicans need to recognize the dangers of this realignment before it’s too late.
