Putin’s Birthday Message To Trump

This was entirely unexpected.

President Donald Trump received a birthday phone call Saturday from Russian President Vladimir Putin, offering warm wishes for Trump’s 79th—and a serious discussion on the growing war between Israel and Iran.

The 50-minute call came just as tensions in the Middle East reached a boiling point. According to the Kremlin, the leaders focused on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the urgent need to prevent full-scale war in the region.

Trump: Putin Talked About Iran

Trump confirmed the conversation on Truth Social, saying:

“President Putin gave me a call this morning with a kind birthday greeting—but more significantly, we had an in-depth and serious conversation about Iran, a country he’s highly familiar with.”

While the focus was on Iran, Trump said the Russia-Ukraine war was briefly discussed.

“We’ll revisit Ukraine next week,” he said. “Putin is proceeding with large-scale prisoner swaps from both sides.”

Trump added, “He agrees with me: the Israel-Iran war needs to stop. I told him the same applies to his war.”

Israel Hits Iran Hard; Russia Reacts

This past Thursday, Israel carried out a massive military strike inside Iran, eliminating top Iranian generals, nuclear scientists, and key facilities. The Israeli government said the strikes are only the beginning of a wider mission to dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

The Biden administration has remained mostly silent, even as the Middle East inches toward broader war.

In response, Russia—which has relied heavily on Iranian drones in its Ukraine invasion—blasted Israel’s actions.

“These attacks clearly violate the U.N. Charter and international law,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry declared Friday.

The statement called on the international community to condemn Israel—a move many critics say reeks of hypocrisy, given Russia’s own invasion of Ukraine.

Trump Pushes Diplomacy Over War: “We Can Avoid a Global Disaster”

Despite the rising tensions, President Trump is keeping the focus on diplomacy. His administration is moving ahead with direct nuclear talks with Iran, set for this Sunday in Oman.

“We are committed to a diplomatic solution,” Trump posted. “My entire administration is focused on reaching an agreement with Iran. They could become a great nation—but only if they give up their nuclear weapons ambitions.”

This firm but optimistic tone contrasts sharply with the Biden White House’s vague responses.

Putin Open to Ukraine Talks, Zelensky Pushes Back on Trump’s Approach

During the call, Putin signaled interest in resuming peace talks on the Ukraine war. While no breakthrough was announced, Trump said the groundwork is being laid.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, criticized the conversation and urged Trump to take a tougher line against Russia.

“The U.S.–Russia dialogue feels too warm,” Zelensky posted. “America must show strength. Russia is the aggressor.”

Trump Heads to G7 as World Looks for Leadership

President Trump is set to travel to Canada for the G7 Summit, where world leaders will gather to address growing international crises. Zelensky has requested a face-to-face meeting with Trump at the summit.

As global instability increases—from Iran’s nuclear push to the war in Ukraine—many in the international community are watching to see whether Trump can again deliver the bold, peace-through-strength leadership that defined his first term.
