Longtime Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has died following what his office described as a brief and sudden illness, according to a report by The Washington Post, which cited a statement released by Graham’s office early Sunday morning. His passing ends a congressional career that spanned more than three decades and leaves a significant vacancy in the United States Senate.
According to The Washington Post, Graham’s office said, “On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away following a brief and sudden illness.” His family thanked supporters for their prayers and asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.
