Wonder what Donald Trump has to say about this.
Republican Senator Bill Cassidy sparked major controversy during a recent interview with HBO’s Axios when he claimed that he isn’t sure that former President Donald Trump could win the 2024 Republican nomination if he decided to run again.
According to Axios, after Sen. Cassidy was asked if he expects Trump to win the 2024 nomination, Cassidy replied “I don’t know that.”
Cassidy then explained, “Trump is the first president in the Republican side at least to lose the House, the Senate and the presidency in four years. Elections are about winning.”
Then, when asked if the thinks Trump would actually lose the nomination against another Republican, Cassidy responded, “Well, if you want to win the presidency — and hopefully that’s what voters are thinking about — I think he might.”
Cassidy also voted to convict Trump in an impeachment trial.
Wow. GOP Sen Bill Cassidy says in new interview that he would not vote for Trump again if he ran in 2024. He says “elections are about winning,” and “Trump is the first president, on the Republican side, to lose the House, the Senate and the presidency in 4 years.” pic.twitter.com/nmDpvJgmSF
