Here we go again.
A new unidentified balloon has just been found flying over America soil.
According to NBC News, the origin of the new balloon recently sighted over certain areas of Hawaii is still unknown, as confirmed by officials. The United States military is actively monitoring the object.
President Biden should be on top of this issue since it is now the second time that this has happened in just a matter of a few months.
As per an anonymous official cited by the outlet, the military currently believes that the balloon does not pose any danger to national security or air traffic.
NBC News’ source stated that it is uncertain whether the object is a weather balloon and confirmed that it is not transmitting any signals. Additionally, the officials who spoke with NBC News mentioned that the balloon does not appear to be capable of maneuvering.
Currently, the balloon is headed towards Mexico, and if it gets closer to land, it is plausible that the U.S. military may attempt to shoot it down.
In February, the U.S. military shot down a Chinese balloon which seemed to be a part of a widespread surveillance initiative by Beijing. The program has also targeted other countries such as Japan, India, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
Authorities do not suspect that the current balloon heading towards North America is of Chinese origin, but its source has yet to be determined.
President Biden now has a second chance to get this issue right. Hopefully he doesn’t fail this time and stops the balloon before it cross the United States like last time.
