America’s largest teachers unions are under fire after a shocking report revealed they poured over $43.5 million into Democrat causes and left-wing activism during the last election cycle.
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA) funneled union dollars between 2022 and 2024 into groups that push gun control, abortion on demand, gender transitions for minors, and radical racial “equity” programs.
Union Dues Used To Bankroll The Left
According to watchdog group Defending Education, these two unions handed out a staggering $43,524,123 over just two years. The biggest recipients included:
- $9.3 million to For Our Future Action Fund, a left-wing PAC operating in battleground states.
- $1.6 million to House Majority PAC.
- $1.25 million to Senate Majority PAC.
- $250,000 to Future Forward, the Super PAC behind Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
- $500,000 to the Soros-linked Sixteen Thirty Fund.
- $100,000 to The Trevor Project, accused of promoting gender transitions for pre-teens.
Critics say the money trail proves that teachers’ unions are less about educating children and more about propping up Democrats and funding far-left ideology.
Critics: “Not About Education – It’s About Power”
Sarah Parshall Perry of Defending Education slammed the findings:
“Teachers unions don’t educate kids. They spend money, attack parental involvement, and advance left-wing causes that have nothing to do with learning.”
Aaron Withe of the Freedom Foundation pointed out that nearly 40% of NEA’s entire budget now goes to politics instead of classrooms.
“Rather than helping students, they’re appeasing the radical fringe—backing men in women’s sports, antisemitism, and dangerous gender ideology.”

Union boss Randi Weingarten, president of the AFT, became infamous during the pandemic for lobbying the Biden White House to keep schools closed. She even misrepresented scientific research to Congress to delay reopening classrooms—devastating millions of children’s education.
Only by 2022 did the Biden administration finally admit that 95% of schools were back in-person after pressure from parents and watchdog groups.
Trump Hits Back At Dark Money
President Donald Trump blasted the Soros network and called for racketeering charges against dark money groups linked to the Sixteen Thirty Fund. These same organizations pumped more than $20 million into protests against Trump’s D.C. crime crackdown.
“The radical left is using teachers’ unions as a political slush fund while America’s children fall further and further behind,” Trump said.
