DHS: “Follow the Law or Pay the Price”
A senior DHS official put it bluntly:
“Leave voluntarily and receive a $1,000 check — or stay illegally, rack up $1,000 fines per day, and face deportation without ever returning legally.”
DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin described the fines as “common sense enforcement” aimed at illegals who openly defy the law.
“These fines are focused on illegal aliens who ignore deportation orders and refuse to honor voluntary departure agreements,” she stated.
Critics Call It “Psychological Warfare”
Immigration attorneys on the Left are blasting the Trump administration, calling the strategy “psychological warfare” meant to pressure illegals into leaving.
