Trump Bankrupts His Favorite State?

Florida is staring down a $218 million disaster.

This comes after a federal judge — appointed by Barack Obama — ordered the permanent shutdown of Alligator Alcatraz, a detention center deep in the Everglades once praised by President Donald Trump as a tough, secure site to hold illegal immigrants.

Florida Taxpayers on the Hook

The closure could cost the Sunshine State $15 to $20 million immediately, plus another $15 to $20 million if Florida tries to rebuild the site. According to court filings, the state may now lose the bulk of its $218 million investment meant to keep communities safe and illegal immigration under control.

Worse yet, Florida officials have already signed over $405 million in vendor contracts tied to the project — money that may now be wasted thanks to activist judges and environmental lawsuits.

Obama Judge Halts Trump-Backed Facility

U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams ruled the facility caused “irreparable harm” to endangered species and blocked access for the Miccosukee Tribe. In an 82-page order, she claimed Florida never proved why this detention site was essential or why detainees there posed violent threats.

But critics say the ruling is just another example of Democrat-appointed judges undermining border security, leaving taxpayers stuck with the bill while cartels, traffickers, and illegal immigrants exploit the system.

DeSantis, GOP Governors Push Back

Gov. Ron DeSantis, backed by 22 Republican governors, blasted the ruling and urged higher courts to overturn it. He argued Florida should not be forced to bow to Washington’s radical environmental regulations when protecting its citizens.

To keep the fight alive, DeSantis touted the opening of a new immigration facility in the state — quickly dubbed the “Deportation Depot” — to ensure criminals who cross the border don’t walk free under Joe Biden’s failed policies.

Trump vs. Biden-Era Chaos

President Trump had praised the Alligator Alcatraz site just weeks ago for its isolation and security, noting its location made escape nearly impossible. Yet now, thanks to Biden’s allies in the courts, Florida’s massive investment could be gone — a gift to the open-borders lobby.

For many, it’s a simple question: why are hardworking Americans forced to pay the price while illegal immigration thrives under Biden?
