Trump Fuming After Escalator Sabotage

What really happened?

President Donald Trump is demanding answers — and arrests — after a frightening incident at the United Nations headquarters nearly caused First Lady Melania Trump to fall headfirst down a metal escalator.

The shocking event happened Tuesday as President Trump and the First Lady were on their way to address world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly in New York. According to Trump, the escalator abruptly stopped without warning, sending Melania stumbling forward.

“It’s a miracle we didn’t both go face-first onto those sharp metal steps,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday. “We were only saved because we were each holding tightly to the handrails.”

Trump Calls It “Deliberate Sabotage”

The 79-year-old president didn’t hold back, declaring the sudden stoppage was “absolutely sabotage.” He pointed to a report from the Times of London claiming U.N. staffers were overheard joking about shutting down the escalator to inconvenience Trump.

“The people responsible for this disgraceful act should be arrested immediately,” Trump demanded. He also called for all security tapes and emergency-stop records to be preserved, noting that the Secret Service is already involved in the investigation.

U.N. Officials Offer Excuse, Trump Not Buying It

The U.N. later issued a statement suggesting that a U.S. delegation videographer accidentally triggered the escalator’s safety mechanism by walking backward to film Trump’s arrival.

According to spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, a sensor at the top of the escalator automatically shuts down the machine if it detects something that could get caught in the gears.

Trump wasn’t convinced. He insisted there needs to be a full investigation and dismissed the explanation as a cover story to avoid accountability.

More Strange Failures During Trump’s Speech

The escalator incident wasn’t the only problem Trump faced that day. Once he began delivering his speech, his teleprompter suddenly went dark, leaving him unable to read his prepared remarks.

“It was completely black,” Trump said. “First the escalator, then the teleprompter — you can’t tell me this is all just coincidence.”

To make matters worse, Trump later discovered that much of his speech couldn’t even be heard by people in the auditorium unless they were wearing earpieces. When he asked Melania how he did, she replied, “I couldn’t hear a word you said.”

“Triple Sabotage” at the U.N.

By the end of the day, Trump declared the string of failures to be a coordinated attack.

“This wasn’t bad luck — this was triple sabotage at the U.N.,” he said. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”

Why This Matters

The frightening episode comes as tensions rise between President Trump and international elites who have opposed his America First policies. Supporters worry this could be part of a broader pattern of hostility toward Trump on the world stage.

Trump has vowed to get to the bottom of the matter — and to hold those responsible fully accountable.
