They aren’t letting crooked lawmaker smear them anymore.

Presidential hopeful and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy appears to have teamed up with trump and is firing back at Senator Mitt Romney’s recent remarks, where the latter expressed a preference for supporting “a number of Democrats” over both Trump and Ramaswamy in the 2024 election. Ramaswamy dismissed Romney’s stance, stating, “Turns out he’s opposed to America-First itself, not just one man. Newsflash, Mitt: I didn’t vote for you either, and I still call on your niece Ronna to resign.” Ronna McDaniel serves as the chair of the Republican National Committee.

Romney’s comments, aired on CBS last month, largely went unnoticed until this week. In response, Ramaswamy criticized Romney’s position, emphasizing that he would not receive his vote and questioning the senator’s commitment to America-First principles.

Romney, who announced his retirement from the Senate in September and will not be running for re-election in 2024, justified his decision by stating, “Frankly, it’s time for a new generation of leaders.” He highlighted pressing challenges such as the national debt, climate change, and international concerns with Russia and China. Trump, upon learning of Romney’s retirement, celebrated the news on TruthSocial, emphasizing Romney’s previous votes to impeach the former president twice.

Romney’s willingness to criticize fellow Republicans and cooperate across party lines has strained relations with the Utah GOP. Last month, over 60 GOP Utah state lawmakers endorsed Utah state House Speaker Brad Wilson for a primary challenge against Romney. Despite winning the GOP primary in a landslide in 2018, Romney’s departure from the Senate is set for January 2025.
