Trump Ready To Go To Jail?

Here’s what Trump had to say about potentially being jailed.

Former President Donald Trump recently expressed his willingness to accept either house arrest or jail time following his conviction on 34 felony counts in New York. During an interview on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends,” Trump responded to questions about his potential sentence, stating, “I’m OK with it.”

However, Trump voiced doubts about the public’s reaction to his sentencing, suggesting it might be difficult for the public to accept. He remarked, “I think it’d be tough for the public to take. At a certain point, there’s a breaking point.”

Trump’s conviction last week marks the first time a former U.S. president has been found guilty of such charges. The case involved falsifying business records related to reimbursements made to his former attorney, Michael Cohen, for a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Despite his legal team’s intention to appeal, proceedings are set to continue as planned. Given that Trump is a first-time offender with no prior criminal record, it is unlikely he will face jail time. A more probable outcome would be a lesser penalty, such as a fine.

In the interview, Trump emphasized that he instructed his lawyers not to plead for leniency, accepting the situation as it is. He also reflected on the toll the conviction has taken on his family and close associates, noting that it has been particularly hard on them.

“It’s tougher on them than it is on me,” he admitted. “They’re good people, all of them … everyone, everyone.” He praised his wife, Melania Trump, for her resilience amidst the ongoing media scrutiny, saying she is “fine” but acknowledging the difficulty she faces.

Trump criticized the media and others involved in the case, accusing them of creating turmoil and acting with malicious intent. He lamented the impact of the gag order that prevents him from fully defending himself, expressing frustration over the situation.

“They do that for this reason. They put this stuff in to create havoc,” Trump said. “These are bad people; I know everything they’re doing. I know every move they make; I get it.” Despite these challenges, he remains steadfast, understanding the broader implications of his legal battles.
