Trump 1 Step Closer to Renaming the Kennedy Center?
Washington, D.C. — A bold new move by House Republicans could soon transform one of America’s most iconic cultural institutions into a monument honoring President Donald J. Trump.
Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO) has put forward the Make Entertainment Great Again (MEGA) Act, a legislative proposal that would rename the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in honor of President Donald J. Trump. The initiative is part of a wider push to restore traditional American values and recognize Trump’s lasting impact on the worlds of business, media, and culture.
“President Trump is more than a leader — he’s a cultural icon,” Onder said. “No other modern figure has done more to shape American media and global influence.”
This proposal follows another amendment approved earlier this month by House Republicans to give a new name to the Kennedy Center’s infamous opera house the First Lady Melania Trump Opera House. Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), who led that effort, praised Melania Trump’s “grace, strength, and commitment to uplifting the arts.”
The move has outraged left-leaning figures, including JFK’s grandson, Jack Schlossberg, who claimed the Trump administration “stands for freedom of oppression.” Conservatives swiftly pushed back, pointing to growing concerns about censorship, politicization of art, and the dominance of far-left ideologies in taxpayer-funded institutions.
President Trump, in February, made history by appointing himself chairman of the Kennedy Center’s board — a position he says is essential to restoring American cultural pride. After visiting the center in March, Trump remarked that the facility was in “tremendous disrepair,” calling it “a sad reflection of what our country has become under globalist leadership.”
“We’re going to fix it up,” Trump said. “And we’re going to bring back something beautiful — something American.”
The Kennedy Center, originally opened in 1971 and renamed after President Kennedy following his assassination, has long promoted itself as a home for American arts. But many now believe it has drifted from that mission, becoming a symbol of elitist, left-wing ideology rather than national unity.
Supporters of the MEGA Act argue that renaming the institution is a powerful step toward reclaiming American culture, restoring national pride, and honoring a president who defied the establishment to put America First.introduced the Make Entertainment Great Agai
