Washington is at a standstill — and once again, Democrats are to blame.
For the tenth time, Senate Democrats have blocked Republican efforts to reopen the government, guaranteeing that the shutdown will stretch into yet another week. After only three short days of work, lawmakers are packing up and heading home, leaving hardworking Americans, veterans, and border agents to suffer the consequences.
Democrats Play Politics While America Pays the Price
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has refused to back down. He continues to push the House-passed continuing resolution (CR) that would fully reopen the government and keep it funded through November 21.
But Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his Democrat allies are refusing to compromise, demanding special subsidies tied to Obamacare — a political wish list that has nothing to do with keeping the government open.
“They’re holding our troops, our air traffic controllers, and our border agents hostage,” Thune warned. “Every day this continues, American families are paying the price.”
While Democrats stall, millions of Americans are missing paychecks, and vital services remain frozen. But to Schumer and the D.C. elite, it’s all just a political game.
Schumer Dodges Accountability — Again
When asked if he’d negotiate to end the shutdown, Schumer dodged the question and claimed Republicans “won’t negotiate in public.” In reality, Democrats have walked away from the table entirely.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) confirmed that there are “not really” any talks happening anymore, saying Democrats are playing politics with healthcare to score campaign points.
“If it’s not done by Christmas, it becomes a political issue — and that’s exactly what they want,” Mullin said.
Republicans Stand Firm for the Military and the Middle Class
Republicans are also moving to protect military pay through a defense funding bill, ensuring our troops don’t suffer while Democrats grandstand. But even that measure faces opposition from the left. After months of demanding “bipartisan cooperation,” Democrats are now refusing to support funding for America’s defenders.
Meanwhile, a small group of moderates — John Fetterman (D-PA), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and Angus King (I-ME) — broke ranks again and sided with Republicans to reopen the government.
Fetterman made it clear:
“It was wrong to shut it down in March. Everything else can be figured out later. Open the government first.”
Trump Was Right All Along
President Donald Trump warned that Democrats would put politics above the American people — and that’s exactly what’s happening. The longer the shutdown drags on, the more it exposes their true priorities: control, power, and partisan games.
From border patrol agents to military families, everyday Americans are paying the price for Democrat obstruction. While Republicans are working to reopen the government, Democrats are working to sabotage America — just to score points against Trump.
