This won’t end well.
Senator Lisa Murkowski, who has been in a very bad standing with Republicans, is now taking on former President Donald Trump the rest of the Republican party by announcing that she will run for reelection next year!
According to Politico, Senator Murkowski was one of seven Republican Senators who attempted to sabotage Trump and voted to convict him for inciting the January 6th Capitol protest.
Former President Trump since then has took his endorsement from Murkowski and is now backing Alaska Commissioner of Administration Kelly Tshibaka instead. Murkowski is likely in for a very tough battle to win reelection since she is the ONLY Republican Senator who voted for Trump’s conviction to run in 2022.
In her bid for reelection, Murkowski stated, “My heart is, and always has been, in Alaska, and that’s why I am proud to announce my campaign for reelection to the US Senate in 2022. I pledged to be Alaska, always. I’m still committed to those values and meeting the challenges Alaskans face today.”
Murkowski refused to address Trump at any point in her statement for reelection. However, it’s obvious that she is going to have to face a wave of Republican anger if she expects to be reelected.
Murkowski’s opponent Tshibaka recently mocked her and labeled her as President Biden’s “Biden’s Chief Enabling Officer”.
