The campaign of ex-President Donald Trump has disclosed information regarding his scheduled journey to New York for his arraignment on Tuesday. This comes after a grand jury in Manhattan indicted him.
According to Newsweek, although Donald Trump is originally from New York, he currently lives in his Palm Beach, Mar-a-Lago home. However, he will have to make a trip to Manhattan to confront the charges filed against him.
The Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been probing into an unlawful hush money payment of $130,000 made to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star, by Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to keep her quiet prior to the 2016 presidential election. On Thursday, a grand jury indicted the former president over this matter. Despite the accusations, Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing and continues to maintain his innocence in the case.
As per Trump’s campaign, he intends to spend the upcoming weekend at Mar-a-Lago and is anticipated to follow his regular routine. This supposedly involves having dinner with his family on the club’s patio and possibly playing golf.
According to Trump’s campaign, he plans to depart from Mar-a-Lago at approximately noon on Monday via his private plane, to head towards New York. After arriving in the city, Trump will stay overnight at his Manhattan-based Trump Tower penthouse before heading to the courthouse on Tuesday morning. Trump’s arraignment is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
As per a CNN report on Friday, a source with relevant information indicated that several other court hearings initially planned for Tuesday at the Manhattan criminal court may be delayed.
In the event that other cases are postponed prior to Trump’s arraignment, it would presumably result in fewer individuals in and around the courthouse. Nevertheless, there will likely be a considerable presence of media outside the court.
As per Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, the ex-president will not be handcuffed on Tuesday.
