Trump Gives Major Update On Food Stamps

Trump has clarified the rumors.

President Donald Trump has issued a powerful update on the future of America’s food assistance program — and he’s making it clear he won’t let hardworking families go hungry because of Washington politics.

In a Friday night post on Truth Social, Trump revealed he has ordered government lawyers to seek an immediate court ruling on how the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can be legally funded while Democrats continue blocking a deal to reopen the government.

“Our legal team has advised that we may not currently have the proper authority to fund SNAP using some of the resources on hand, especially since two separate courts have delivered conflicting rulings on what actions are permitted,” Trump stated.

Trump: ‘I Will Not Let Americans Go Hungry’

With more than 42 million Americans relying on food stamps to make ends meet, the president stressed that Democrats are playing political games with people’s livelihoods.

“I will not allow Americans to go hungry simply because Radical Democrats refuse to act responsibly and reopen the government,” Trump said. “Once the Court provides clear legal guidance, I will be proud to authorize the funding—just as I did for our Military and Law Enforcement.”

Trump blasted Senate Democrats for “hurting everyday Americans for political gain,” urging SNAP recipients to call Senate Democrats directly and demand that they end the shutdown immediately.

“Democrats need to end this political game that’s hurting everyday Americans,” Trump stated. “If you depend on SNAP benefits, reach out to Senate Democrats and demand they reopen the government immediately!”

Republicans Rally Behind Trump’s Stand

Conservatives in Congress are backing Trump’s effort to protect struggling families and restore sanity in Washington.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) shared a graph showing the skyrocketing cost of SNAP and warned,

“This is an alarming trend. We need to ask ourselves why so many Americans are on SNAP.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) called for a bipartisan fix, saying,

“If any Democrats truly care about the harm this shutdown is causing, I have a straightforward, bipartisan funding bill ready—one that supports WIC, SNAP, military pay, air traffic controllers, farmers, housing programs, and national defense,” he said.

Democrats Play Politics With Hunger

Democrats like Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Amy Klobuchar took to social media blaming Trump — but the president’s allies say their outrage is nothing more than political theater.

While Obama warned that “one in five children” faces food insecurity, Sanders accused Trump of letting “16 million kids go hungry.” Klobuchar went even further, claiming it would be “cruel” for the administration not to release emergency funds.

But Trump has made it clear: he will act the moment the courts give him the legal authority to do so. Until then, he says, Democrats are the ones standing between American families and their next meal.

The Bottom Line

President Trump is once again fighting for ordinary Americans — and calling out Washington’s hypocrisy.
As he put it himself: “It will be my honor to make sure no American goes hungry.”

While Democrats play politics, Trump is standing firm on the side of the people — determined to keep families fed, the government accountable, and America strong.
