In a stunning new interview with Fox News Digital, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed what many conservatives suspected all along — there’s a powerful partnership unfolding between President Donald Trump and the Lone Star State.
Abbott revealed the “substantive reason” he works so closely with the president: “We both believe in the rule of law.”
“President Trump and I have a good, long-standing, working relationship,” Abbott said. “We both believe in public safety. We both believe in securing the borders.”

National Guard Moves Into Chicago
Over 200 Texas National Guard troops have now been deployed to the Chicago area to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. Their job is to protect federal law enforcement as they confront violent left-wing demonstrators.
In recent weeks, Chicago’s ICE facilities have been under siege by protesters who’ve blocked roads, trapped agents, and even rammed federal vehicles. Nearly a dozen arrests have already been made.
Despite the chaos, Democrat leaders in Illinois have offered almost no support to federal officers — forcing Trump and Abbott to step in to restore order.
Abbott: “Texas Will Always Step Up”
Under Title 10 authority, Abbott has authorized up to 400 Texas National Guard troops to be deployed nationwide wherever unrest erupts. Half are already in Illinois, as federal courts weigh challenges to the deployment.
“These are National Guard troopers who have years of experience handling civil unrest,” Abbott said. “They protected the Texas border when Joe Biden refused to. Now, they’re protecting federal agents from mob violence.”
Abbott added that the Trump administration and Texas share the same mission — to enforce immigration laws, protect communities, and restore law and order.
“The Texas Guard isn’t there to police Chicago,” he clarified. “They’re there to ensure federal officials can fulfill their constitutional duty to enforce the laws of the United States.”
Law and Order Returns Under Trump
The Abbott-Trump partnership marks a dramatic shift back to strong borders, secure communities, and constitutional enforcement — a sharp contrast to the chaos seen under Democrat leadership.
