Pelosi hate for Trump needs to be studied by pyschologists.
Footage of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reaction to President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday has sparked intense discussion online, especially among conservatives. The video shows Pelosi, now 84, visibly uncomfortable and clutching her walking stick while Trump discusses the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Pelosi, who served as Speaker from January 2019 to January 2023, has been a constant critic of Trump throughout his presidency. One of the most memorable moments during her time as Speaker came in February 2020 when she ripped up Trump’s State of the Union address in front of the entire chamber, a move that received widespread attention.
In his address on Tuesday, Trump celebrated his administration’s accomplishments, declaring, “America is back,” and highlighted a series of actions, including the executive orders he signed since taking office for his second term in January. One key order, signed on February 5, was titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which bans transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports at educational institutions and grassroots levels.
While Trump addressed the issue, cameras caught Pelosi’s discontent. She appeared visibly distressed, slowly shaking her head and gripping her walking stick. A brief 14-second clip of this moment quickly went viral after being shared by Turning Point USA contributor Savanah Hernandez on X (formerly Twitter), garnering millions of views and thousands of reactions.
Hernandez captioned the video, “Just so we’re all aware, this was Nancy Pelosi’s reaction as Trump was discussing men not being allowed to play in women’s sports.” The clip was further circulated by pro-Trump accounts, with one stating, “Nancy Pelosi is so mad that men can’t beat women in sports.”
This moment was especially significant considering Pelosi’s opposition to a Republican-backed bill that sought to ban transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports in 2023. Pelosi had claimed, “Trans kids are all God’s children, and they belong in sports, in schools, in books, in families, and on teams.”
In her response to Trump’s speech on X, Pelosi labeled the address “a manifesto of mistruths,” criticizing the president for not fulfilling promises to reduce inflation and lower the cost of living. She also attacked his budget plan, accusing Republicans of giving tax breaks to billionaires while undermining healthcare for millions of Americans.
Meanwhile, conservative voices, such as former college athlete Riley Gaines, have continued to speak out against the participation of transgender women in female sports, with Gaines even sharing a clip mocking Pelosi’s reaction. The video quickly became a symbol of the growing debate over this issue.
As Republicans now control both chambers of Congress and the White House, President Trump’s ability to reshape policies on issues like gender and sports remains a central theme of his agenda. Pelosi’s future in Congress is uncertain, as she was reelected to represent California’s 11th District in 2024, but her political trajectory remains unclear as she contemplates a possible run for re-election in 2026.
