Who would’ve expected this.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who may or may not run for the presidency in 2024 has just received some good news.
It has now been learned that Governor DeSantis may have exceeded Trump’s popularity among voters in Florida according to a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll.
According to Axios, in a hypothetical 2024 primary poll, DeSantis is ahead of Trump by 48% to 40%. This marks a strange shift of support for DeSantis who was actually behind former President Donald Trump in the polls in January.
Suffolk University’s David Paleologos explained, “This doesn’t necessarily mean DeSantis would lead in any other GOP primary state.”
Adding, “But it is one data point suggesting a shift in preferences from GOP voters away from Trump and toward DeSantis from Republicans who know both potential combatants quite well.”
What’s even more interesting is that in a new Morning Consult-Politico poll, former President Donald Trump also dropped by 5 points when compared to other Republican candidates but he still held a lead.
52 percent of Republican primary voters said that they would still support Trump in 2024. Trump is still the clear leader in the Republican party but it appears that his grip could be slipping on the party.
