President Donald Trump is delivering on his promise to put American citizens first.
His administration has ordered public housing agencies nationwide to hand over detailed tenant records for Section 8 housing, making sure taxpayer dollars don’t go to illegal immigrants.
HUD Secretary Scott Turner announced the policy this weekend, warning housing agencies across the country that the days of free rides for illegal aliens are over.
“We are demanding all citizenship information for residents,” Turner posted on X. “More than 3,000 housing authorities across America have been notified. The taxpayer-funded vacation is over.”
Section 8 Now Under Tight Scrutiny
Section 8, known as the Housing Choice Voucher program, helps more than 2.3 million households—including seniors, veterans, and disabled Americans—pay rent in the private market.
But under past administrations, lax oversight allowed ineligible individuals to slip through. Trump’s HUD is now requiring:
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status
- Tenant names and mailing addresses
- Rental unit details, including size and cost
Agencies have just 30 days to comply or face cuts to their federal funding. Turner made the warning clear:
“Whether you like it or not, we will uphold the law to its fullest extent. If you are here illegally, it’s time to pack your bags.”
Trump’s Bigger Plan: Reforming Section 8
This crackdown is only step one. Trump’s 2025 budget plan takes aim at Washington’s bloated housing bureaucracy. The proposal would:
- Cut HUD’s massive $89 billion budget nearly in half
- Eliminate federal rental assistance programs like Section 8
- Replace them with state-based rental assistance grants
- Place a two-year limit on benefits for able-bodied recipients
- Protect seniors and the disabled while pushing others toward self-sufficiency
The Trump administration said it best:
“The Budget empowers States by transforming dysfunctional federal programs into State-based solutions designed around local needs.”
Left-Wing Critics Already Pushing Back
Democrats and liberal think tanks are sounding alarms. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities warned that millions could be at risk of eviction if time limits are enforced.
Sen. Bernie Sanders blasted Trump’s plan, claiming it would “make housing struggles worse.”
But Trump’s supporters argue the opposite: for decades, housing assistance ballooned without accountability. His reforms stop fraud, reward responsibility, and ensure struggling American families—not illegal immigrants—get the help first.
What Happens Next
Congress returns September 2 and must pass a budget by September 30. Until then, Trump’s message is crystal clear:
✅ No more Section 8 benefits for illegal immigrants
✅ No more taxpayer-funded housing scams
✅ Americans come first, always
For seniors, veterans, and hardworking families who follow the rules, Trump’s crackdown delivers a long-awaited promise: Public housing will finally serve Americans—not outsiders.
