Americans Pick Trump’s 2024 Running Mate

This was surprising!

During the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) the majority of attendees said that they would prefer to see former President Donald Trump be the Republican nominee in 2024.

In a straw poll, Trump received 62 percent of the votes regarding him being the nominee. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on the other hand only received support from 20 percent of the vote.

When asked about their preference for Trump’s potential running mate, Kari Lake was selected as the majority winner with 20 percent of the votes. DeSantis, who is expected to launch his own campaign for the White House soon received only 14 percent of the vote in that straw poll.

DeSantis skipped the CPAC and instead went around Texas to deliver speeches and make public appearances in the Dallas and Harris counties for the annual Reagan Dinner fundraisers.

Former United Nations Ambassador during the Trump administration, Nikki Haley, who announced her presidential bid last month, received 10 percent of the vote in the poll about being Trump’s running mate.

Lake is a failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate who had received Trump’s support and endorsement during the 2020 midterm race. She is now part of a court fight seeking to overturn the election results, alleging on Saturday that she had been bribed and asked to stay away from the political scene.

As she described in her remarks during the event, someone had appeared on her doorstep stating that this conversation could not take place over the phone. As she noted, the person had tried to keep her out of politics and even provided her with “a job title, with a huge salary, a position on a board” which were all meant to act as a bribe for her staying out of politics.
