The Biden family is totally out of control.
On Wednesday, President Biden’s son formally requested the subpoena of former President Trump and three high-ranking officials from his Justice Department, alleging that the criminal charges against him are politically motivated. Biden, facing three federal gun charges, is urging Trump and former Attorney General Bill Barr to release communications and documents related to him and his criminal investigation.
According to Fox, the request for documents, contingent on judicial approval, also targets former Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue and former acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen. Biden’s legal team argued in court filings that the information sought is crucial to his defense, contending that the prosecution may be vindictive or selectively pursued, infringing on his Fifth Amendment rights.
Following the collapse of a plea deal earlier this year, Biden was indicted on three gun-related charges in September, including unlawfully possessing a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance and failure to disclose drug use when purchasing a weapon. Despite acknowledging his struggles with addiction, Biden pleaded not guilty.
Criticism from Republicans, who view the investigation as biased, has surrounded Biden’s case. They characterized the abandoned plea agreement as a “sweetheart deal” and criticized prosecutors for not bringing additional charges in the subsequent indictment.
Biden’s subpoena motion extensively references these criticisms, specifically naming House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.). Biden alleges that Trump and his congressional allies exerted persistent public pressure for charges to be filed.
Last week, as part of an impeachment inquiry, Comer’s committee subpoenaed Hunter Biden and other members of the president’s family. The GOP investigation explores allegations of influence peddling by the Bidens and claims that money flowed to President Biden during his vice presidency—a stance the White House vehemently denies.
Hunter’s attorneys argue that the pressure for charges against him stems not only from the Trump-era Executive Branch but also from relentless outside interference by congressional Republicans. They emphasize the need for an independent and politically unbiased prosecutorial process, stating that the current political climate jeopardizes this fundamental American principle.
