Hochul Warns of ‘Trump Takeover’ in 2026, Slams Stefanik in Desperate Tirade
New York Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul went on the offensive Sunday, panicking over the possibility that President Donald Trump could help flip the governor’s mansion in 2026.
During an appearance on ABC 7’s Up Close with Bill Ritter, Hochul warned that Trump—a lifelong New Yorker—could wield enormous influence if a Republican like Rep. Elise Stefanik wins the next election.
“If a Republican gets elected against me, think about the power that Donald Trump will have over everything in the state,” Hochul said. “That’s what should give people great pause.”
But for many New Yorkers, Trump having more control over the state’s spiraling crime problem is exactly what they want.
Stefanik Fires Back After Brutal Shooting
Stefanik, a rising GOP star and fierce Trump ally, took aim at radical anti-police rhetoric following a gruesome shooting in Midtown Manhattan that left four dead—including a brave NYPD officer.
She reposted a shocking 2020 tweet from far-left NYC councilman Zohran Mamdani, who smeared the NYPD as “racist” and “a major threat to public safety.”
“Reminder: Kathy Hochul is proudly aligned with radical-leftist Mamdani — an embarrassment and clearly unqualified to lead New York City,” Stefanik wrote.
Hochul, instead of defending law enforcement, accused Stefanik of “taking cheap shots” during a “time of mourning.”
Stefanik Team: “Hochul Has Failed Every New Yorker”
A spokesperson for Stefanik responded forcefully:
“What gives New Yorkers pause isn’t Trump—it’s Hochul’s failed, soft-on-crime, anti-police leadership. She’s bent the knee to a defund-the-police antisemite and turned her back on public safety.”
They added, “It’s a disgrace that Hochul stands silently by while radicals like Mamdani try to dismantle the NYPD. And when tragedy strikes, she plays politics instead of taking action.”
Gun Control Distraction Falls Flat
Despite crime surging across the state, Hochul continued pushing her anti-Second Amendment agenda, blaming the attack on “weapons of mass destruction” and calling for a national gun ban.
“Why are these kinds of weapons still being sold in the U.S.?” she questioned. “Nations around the world have banned them. What’s stopping Congress and the president from doing the same?”
The shooter, who took his own life, reportedly used an M4 rifle after traveling from Nevada. But instead of addressing the roots of violent crime in Democrat-run cities, Hochul used the moment to attack lawful gun ownership.
Hochul Appeals to Trump, Ironically
In a strange twist, Hochul made a direct plea to President Trump:
“This is Trump’s hometown. He knows these streets.”
It’s a revealing admission—from the same Democrat who spent years vilifying him. Now, as the streets grow less safe and her support slips, Hochul is hoping Trump will somehow save the very city she helped destroy.
