This was unexpected.
In a move that’s turning heads in Washington, one of President Trump’s top Republican allies just gave a surprising thumbs-up to an unlikely political rival — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) didn’t hold back on Fox News Live, slamming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for blocking President Donald Trump’s nominees and openly saying he “looks forward” to seeing Ocasio-Cortez take him out in a primary.
Yes, you read that right — a top conservative is cheering on the far-left “Squad” member — but only to finally rid Washington of Schumer’s obstruction.
“I’d love to see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez challenge him in a primary and send him packing,” Burchett said. “People have lost trust in him — all he does is stall and play political games.”
Trump Nominees Blocked While Senate Goes on Vacation
At the heart of the frustration is Schumer’s decision — backed by Senate Democrats — to block President Trump’s nominees by refusing to use the traditional unanimous consent process. Instead, Democrats are dragging out each confirmation with time-consuming roll-call votes, grinding the Senate to a halt.
Despite critical roles waiting to be filled — positions that affect national security, the economy, and the rule of law — Democrats packed up and left Washington for summer recess without a deal to speed up the process.
Even President Trump himself had enough, taking to Truth Social to deliver a blunt message to Schumer and his Democrat allies:
“GO TO HELL!”
Americans Are Fed Up With Political Games
Fox News host Kevin Corke expressed what many Americans are feeling — outrage over the broken system in Washington.
“These are real jobs, real policy positions,” Corke said. “The American people are tired of seeing their government paralyzed while politicians play games.”
Burchett agreed, saying the Senate is ignoring the will of the people.
“Americans voted for President Trump and his agenda,” Burchett said. “Every time these delays happen, it’s a slap in the face to the American people.”
He didn’t mince words about Schumer’s tactics either:
“People are tired of this garbage. They’re tired of career politicians putting themselves before the country.”
AOC vs. Schumer in 2028? GOP Is Watching Closely
While Rep. Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t officially announced a 2028 primary challenge against Schumer, speculation is building. Some Democrats see her as the future of the party — others fear a messy intraparty war.
For now, conservatives like Burchett are sitting back and watching the infighting unfold — and they’re not hiding their amusement.
“At this point, anyone who can get Schumer out of the way is doing the country a favor,” a GOP strategist told Fox News Digital.
