This is unexpected.

According to a report by Fox News Digital, the upcoming NRA-ILA Leadership Forum will feature prominent Republican figures, including former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

It appears that both DeSantis and Trump may soon share the stage.

NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre told Fox, “The 2023 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum represents a significant gathering of national leaders. This event underscores the importance of defending our constitutional rights and highlights the vital role of the NRA and its membersĀ in protecting freedom and liberty. Our high-caliber speaker lineup emphasizes the significance of preserving our freedoms.”

The NRA-ILA Leadership Forum will take place on April 14 in Indianapolis, boasting an impressive roster of leaders. The lineup includes Donald Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Indiana Senator Mike Braun, Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and several others.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be making his debut appearance at the annual event through a “special video appearance”. This comes after DeSantis signed a permitless carry bill into law earlier this week, which makes the United States a nation with a majority of constitutional carry states.

With rumors swirling about a potential 2024 presidential bid by Governor DeSantis, his scheduled appearance at the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum is generating increased interest. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who has already declared her candidacy for 2024, will also be addressing the event via video on April 14.

Former President Donald Trump, who declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2024 back in November, has been a frequent speaker at NRA events. He has addressed the organization’s members both during his tenure as President and afterwards, including at the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum held in Houston last year.

At the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum held in Houston last year, former President Donald Trump used his speech to dismiss the Democrats’ demands for gun control measures in response to the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. He emphasized to the audience that in times of crisis, when law enforcement is not readily available, “there is no better person to have by your side…than an armed and highly skilled member of the NRA.”

The NRA-ILA Leadership Forum is scheduled for the opening day of the NRA’s three-day annual meeting. The event will showcase 14 acres of the newest firearms and equipment available, as well as hosting seminars and other activities on topics related to gun ownership.
