Will Trump listen to Sheinbaum?
In a stunning move, Mexico’s new president Claudia Sheinbaum publicly called on U.S. immigration officers to stand down during an international soccer match in Los Angeles—just as federal agents were arresting dangerous criminal illegals across the city.
Speaking at a Friday press conference ahead of the Mexico vs. Dominican Republic Gold Cup match at SoFi Stadium, Sheinbaum begged Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to pause enforcement.
“We don’t believe any immigration action should happen during a soccer game,” Sheinbaum stated. “We urge U.S. authorities to show grace. Mexico promotes peace.”
But while Sheinbaum preached diplomacy, the facts on the ground told a different story.
A now-deleted post from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had promised agents would be “suited and booted” for World Cup activities. CBP later clarified its longstanding role in providing security at major U.S. events, including the Super Bowl.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to ensure public safety,” CBP said.
Los Angeles Under Siege as Riots Erupt Over ICE Arrests
As tensions flared, downtown Los Angeles was placed under curfew. Nearly 400 arrests were made by LAPD since the weekend, mostly for failure to disperse, but dozens of more serious charges were filed—including assaulting police officers, carrying Molotov cocktails, and unlawful possession of firearms.
At the heart of the unrest: ICE operations carried out on Monday and Tuesday targeting illegal aliens with violent criminal records.
These weren’t low-level offenders. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), those arrested included murderers, child predators, and major drug traffickers—individuals previously released under California’s sanctuary policies.
President Trump Deploys National Guard to Protect ICE Agents
With protests intensifying and rioters attempting to block federal immigration efforts, President Donald Trump took swift action—authorizing the deployment of National Guard troops to protect ICE officers and ensure continued arrests of criminal illegals.
Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin delivered a scathing statement on Wednesday:
“We’re talking about murderers, child predators, and drug traffickers—yet these are the illegal criminals that violent protesters are defending. How much longer will Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass continue to prioritize these dangerous individuals over the safety of everyday Americans?”
Americans Demand Answers as Sanctuary Policies Backfire
This latest crisis has only intensified scrutiny on Democrat-run sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, where state and local officials continue to prioritize the rights of illegal immigrants over public safety.
Meanwhile, President Trump’s law-and-order approach—targeting dangerous offenders and defending border agents—continues to draw praise from voters nationwide.
As the 2024 election looms, one thing is clear: Americans are waking up to the true cost of open borders and demanding leaders who will put American citizens first.
