Michelle Obama keeps smearing Trump any chance she gets. It’s pathetic.
On Tuesday, former First Lady Michelle Obama took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, delivering a speech that echoed her previous critiques of former President Donald Trump. In her address, Obama not only criticized Trump for his wealth but also suggested that racial prejudice motivated his opposition to her husband’s presidency.
Obama criticized Trump for his background of “generational wealth” and implied that his opposition was rooted in a narrow, racially biased worldview. She falsely remarked, “For years, Donald Trump did everything he could to instill fear in people about us. His limited perspective made him feel threatened by the success of two hardworking, educated Black individuals.”
She then posed a rhetorical question to the audience, challenging Trump’s aspirations: “Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s seeking might just be one of those Black jobs?” Obama continued to smear Trump and claimed that his approach was characterized by “ugly misogynistic, racist lies” rather than substantive solutions that could genuinely improve people’s lives.
In her speech, Obama contrasted Trump with Vice President Kamala Harris, highlighting the challenges faced by those without the luxury of inherited wealth. “We don’t get second chances if we fail or face a crisis,” she said. “We don’t have the option to complain or manipulate the system to get ahead. Instead, we work hard and persevere.”
Obama praised Harris for her resilience and commitment, pointing out, “Harris embodies the strength and steadiness that comes from a life of genuine struggle and achievement. Her character and dedication are clear.”
This speech continued the former First Lady’s pattern of criticizing Trump at Democratic conventions. In 2020, Obama condemned Trump’s administration for its chaotic and empathetic shortcomings, urging voters to support Joe Biden as if their lives depended on it. Four years prior, she similarly criticized Trump in her 2016 convention address, asserting that America was already “the greatest country on Earth.”
In response, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung dismissed Obama’s remarks, accusing Democrats of resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing real issues. Cheung suggested that the focus on grievances over solutions would be detrimental to Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party in the upcoming election.
Concluding her speech, Obama urged delegates to cast their votes decisively, emphasizing the importance of voter turnout. “We need to vote in numbers that leave no room for doubt. Our collective action can shift the direction of our country away from fear and division,” she asserted. “We have the power to honor the legacy of our forebearers and drive positive change. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.”
