Liz Cheney is about to get a major wake up call for everything she did.
A recent Rasmussen Reports survey reveals that a strong majority of voters support calls for an investigation into former Rep. Liz Cheney’s actions during her tenure on the January 6th select committee. Cheney, who represented Wyoming as a Republican before breaking with her party, played a pivotal role in blaming the Capitol riots on President Donald Trump, accusing him of attempting to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power.
The Rasmussen survey found that 57% of likely voters approve of Republican calls for the FBI to investigate Cheney’s actions while serving on the House panel. Just 33% oppose such an inquiry. This sentiment is especially strong among Republicans, with 73% backing the investigation. Cheney’s actions have drawn intense scrutiny after she aligned herself with Democratic leaders, publicly criticizing Trump before and during the January 6th riots. Later, she even campaigned against Trump, endorsing his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, and joining her on the campaign trail.
Recent reports have raised serious concerns about Cheney’s conduct. A report from the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight accuses Cheney of witness tampering, particularly involving Cassidy Hutchinson, a former Trump aide whose testimony at the committee hearings was crucial to the narrative against the former president. Hutchinson claimed that Trump tried to take control of the presidential limo on January 6th, a story that was later discredited. The subcommittee’s report suggests that Cheney secretly communicated with Hutchinson without her attorney’s knowledge, raising questions about the integrity of the committee’s investigation.
The Rasmussen survey reflects a divided national opinion on Cheney’s legacy, with 42% of voters holding an unfavorable view of her, compared to 40% who view her favorably. However, the support for investigating her actions, especially among Republicans, underscores the growing frustration with Cheney’s departure from the GOP and her role in undermining Trump. As the calls for accountability grow louder, it’s clear that many voters are demanding a closer look at Cheney’s actions and their impact on the January 6th narrative.
