Here are the details…

In a shock to the Republican Party, Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., is now strongly considering retirement.

Reports indicate the Sen. Thune could possibly not seek re-election for a third term in Congress even though he is the second-highest ranking member among Republicans in Senate.

According to Fox, Sen. Thune is currently ranked just below Senator Mitch McConnell, who many in the Republican Party are furious with after he recently stabbed the GOP in the back and let Democrats have their way.

Thune is reportedly telling people in his home state that 2022 could be his final year in Congress.

Thune has had a lot of support from Republicans since coming into Congress in 2005. In 2016 alone, Thune won re-election with 71% percent support.

Trump is not a big fan of Thune however. In the past former President Donald Trump labeled Thune as a “weak and ineffective RINO” he also at one point called Thune “Mitch’s boy” suggesting that he didn’t like him.
