Voters along with Donald Trump himself are in disbelief.

Former President Donald Trump recently commented on President Joe Biden’s determination to continue his 2024 reelection bid despite internal pressures within the Democratic Party urging him to step down following a widely criticized debate performance. Speaking with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump remarked that Biden appears resolute due to his ego and reluctance to quit voluntarily.

“It looks to me like he may very well stay, and he’s got an ego, and he doesn’t want to quit. He doesn’t want to do that. It just looks to me like that’s what he wants,” Trump stated during the interview.

Biden, on the other hand, reaffirmed his commitment to remain in the race in a letter addressed to House Democrats, citing his significant support within the party’s nomination process.

“We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively. I received over 14 million votes, 87% of the votes cast across the entire nominating process. I have nearly 3,900 delegates, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin,” Biden wrote in the letter.

Responding directly to criticisms and doubts about his candidacy, Biden expressed his unwavering belief in his ability to defeat Trump in the upcoming election: “I wouldn’t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024.”

Regarding potential alternatives if Joe Biden was to resign, Trump speculated that V.P. Harris might be considered, although he did criticize her leadership and skills in previous roles, particularly on issues like immigration.

“It looks like from a political view, he is who the Democrats are going with. They’re not even talking about replacements,” Trump opined.

Trump also highlighted the challenges Democrats face in attempting to remove Biden from contention due to his delegate count, suggesting that only the 25th Amendment could potentially force him out of the race.

“I think unless the Democrats use the 25th amendment, which they would use in a different circumstance, Biden has all of the power. He has the delegates he needs. He doesn’t have to leave. There isn’t anything they can do to remove him,” Trump explained.

The debate over Biden’s candidacy intensified following a virtual meeting among House Democrats convened by Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, where some members expressed reservations about Biden’s ability to compete effectively against Trump.

Despite internal discussions and critiques, Biden and Trump are slated to engage in another debate in September, setting the stage for continued scrutiny and speculation over the upcoming presidential race.
