Americans should pray for Trump’s safety.

In Washington, D.C., authorities recently apprehended Christina Montoya, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, who allegedly made threatening remarks toward former President Donald Trump and was found carrying an illegal firearm. The arrest took place on Friday after Montoya traveled to the capital, following a tip-off from the Secret Service, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Montoya, 41, faces serious charges including carrying a pistol without a license, possessing an unregistered firearm, and making threats against a former president. This case has drawn attention due to its timing and the context of recent security concerns surrounding Trump.

According to law enforcement, Montoya’s threats against Trump began on July 20. During their investigation, police located her vehicle and recovered a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol, along with a magazine and a gun lock, as detailed in the police report.

This incident follows a recent and alarming event where Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump narrowly escaped the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound to his ear. The assassination attempt has prompted extensive investigations by the FBI, the Secret Service, and Congress. Notably, the scrutiny has led to significant fallout, including the resignation of former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who faced intense criticism from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

The focus of the investigations is on the security lapses that allowed Crooks to use a building outside the designated Secret Service perimeter to target Trump. This ongoing scrutiny underscores the critical importance of robust protective measures for former presidents and highlights the broader concerns about security protocols in high-stakes environments.
